punting average.
Last season, Brent established himself as the premiere punter in the country. He had 54 punts for 2,370 yards. Brent's average was 43.9 per punt which ranked 13th nationally. His net average was an impressive 37.7 yards punt and he pinned his opponents inside the 20 yard line 18 times, only 40 % of his punts were returned, (22 out of 54). Brent had 13
punts that traveled over 50 yards and a 60 yard punt. Against Nebraska he had 8 punts for a 46.9 yard average and 3 punts inside the 20 yard line. Brent punted 3 of his punts over 50 yards in the Nebraska game. Against East Carolina, he had 7 punts for a 44.9 yard average with a 60 yard bomb. Brent was also the holder for all field goals and extra points.
In 2008, Brent had a total of 69 punts. He averaged 40.4 yards per punt, and pinned 24 of his 69 punts inside the 20-yardine. Brent booted 12 of his 69 punts over 50 yards. He had a key punt against Georgia Tech where he placed a ball inside the 20 and was downed at the 5 to help preserve a win for his team. He totaled seven punts with a 43-yard average in a stellar performance against Duke. His best game of the year came against BC. He punted seven times for an average of 42 yards.
